Soufriere Foundation Pays Tribute to the late “Michael Cazaubon”
Soufriere, St. Lucia - The Board of Directors and Management of the Soufriere Foundation express its condolences to the family and friends of the late Michael “Yatar” Cazaubon on his untimely passing. We were all shocked by the news of his passing never having ever felt that such a great young man who had given all of his life to youth and sports administration would pass, at the prime of his life.
Michael was unarguably Soufriere’s most dynamic, passionate and committed youth leader. He was passionately committed to national, youth and sports development. During his 25 years as a sports administrator, he served for over fifteen (15) years as President of the Soufriere Youth and Sports Council; a position he took up as a teenager. Despite the dearth of supporting youth leaders within the community, he never wavered in his commitment to the cause and on many occasions he would be observed marshalling along, alone. So it is no surprise that with such unbridled dedication that under his leadership the community achieved its greatest successes in youth development and sports.
His love and concern for youth and sports was so great that he formed his own organisation, the Soufriere Youth Organisation (SYO), which today is one of the most successful organisations within the community.
Michael will also be fondly remembered for his big heart, good mannered nature, and exceeding humbleness. So big was his heart that he had only the day before his untimely passing agreed to provide the Soufriere Foundation with cost-free labour for construction of a house for an underprivileged resident.
Though Michael is a great loss and will be sadly missed by the Soufriere and St. Lucian Community, his knowledge, contributions and influence will be indelibly etched on our minds and the Soufriere sports landscape and beyond.
We all mourn the passing of a GREAT YOUTH LEADER and a TRUE COMMUNITY MAN.
